Dynamic Algorithms for Graphs with Treewidth 2

چکیده
In this paper, we consider algorithms for maintaining tree-decompositions with constant bounded treewidth under edge and vertex insertions and deletions for graphs with treewidth at most 2 (also called: partial 2-trees, or series-parallel graphs), and for almost trees with parameter k. Each operation can be performed in O(log n) time. For a large number of graph decision, optimization and counting problems, information can be maintained using O(log n) time per update, such that queries can be resolved in O(log n) or O(1) time. Similar results hold for the classes of almost trees with parameter k, for xed k.

Size-Constrained Tree Decompositions
Tree-Decompositions are the corner-stone of many dynamic programming algorithms for solving graph problems. Since the complexity of such algorithms generally depends exponentially on the width (size of the bags) of the decomposition, much work has been devoted to compute tree-decompositions with small width. However, practical algorithms computing tree-decompositions only exist for graphs with ...
متن کاملSubexponential Parameterized Algorithms for Graphs of Polynomial Growth
We show that for a number of parameterized problems for which only 2O(k)nO(1) time algorithms are known on general graphs, subexponential parameterized algorithms with running time 2O(k 1− 1 1+δ log2 k)nO(1) are possible for graphs of polynomial growth with growth rate (degree) δ, that is, if we assume that every ball of radius r contains only O(r) vertices. The algorithms use the technique of ...
متن کاملOptimal Parallel Shortest Paths in Small Treewidth Digraphs
We consider the problem of preprocessing an n-vertex digraph with real edge weights so that subsequent queries for the shortest path or distance between any two vertices can be efficiently answered. We give parallel algorithms for the EREW PRAM model of computation that depend on the treewidth of the input graph. When the treewidth is a constant, our algorithms can answer distance queries in O(...

متن کاملFinding Hamiltonian Cycle in Graphs of Bounded Treewidth: Experimental Evaluation
The notion of treewidth, introduced by Robertson and Seymour in their seminal Graph Minors series, turned out to have tremendous impact on graph algorithmics. Many hard computational problems on graphs turn out to be efficiently solvable in graphs of bounded treewidth: graphs that can be sweeped with separators of bounded size. These efficient algorithms usually follow the dynamic programming p...
